Frequently Asked Questions
How precise is this online stopwatch?
Our stopwatch tracks time with centisecond (1/100 second) precision, which is suitable for most timing needs including sports, cooking, and productivity tracking. It uses the browser high-resolution timer for stable, drift-free measurement.
Can I record laps with this stopwatch?
Yes. Click the Lap button or press the L key to record a lap time without stopping the clock. The stopwatch highlights your fastest and slowest laps so you can spot trends at a glance.
Can I export my lap times?
Yes, you can export all lap times to a CSV file with one click. The file opens directly in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers for further analysis and reporting.
What keyboard shortcuts are available?
Press Space to start or pause the stopwatch, L to record a lap, and R to reset it. Shortcuts let you time events without moving your mouse.
Does the stopwatch keep running in the background?
Yes. The stopwatch keeps counting even when you switch to another tab, although browsers may slow background timers slightly. Keep the tab in the foreground for the most precise lap timing.
Is there a limit on the number of laps?
No hard limit — you can record as many laps as you need during a single session. All laps are listed with their split time and total elapsed time, and the full list is included when you export to CSV.
